Tahir Hussain, veteran film maker and father of Aamir Khan passed away on Feb 2, 2010. He suffered a massive heart attack and met his end before medical help could arrive. His wife Zeenat was with him, when the film maker breathed his last.

Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao were in Los Angeles for the launch of the DD of Taare Zameen Par, and were supposed to travel ahead to Berlin, when the news of his father’s demise came and both rushed back to Mumbai.

Tahir Hussain stayed in Pune but had come down for his grand son, Imran Khan’s engagement. Since then he’d been staying at Aamir’s place at Bandra.

Tahir Hussain started his film career following in the foot steps of his brother, Nasir Hussain and co-produced films like Jab Pyar Kissi Se Hota Hai, Tum Sa Nahin Dekha, Pyar Ka Mausam and others. He independently produced Caravan in 1971, starring Jeetendra and Asha Parekh, the success of which immediately catapulted the trio to fame. He then produced Anamika, Zakhmee, Khoon Ki Pukar, Dulha Bikta Hai and a few others which were a mixed bag of success and failures.
