Okay, so can we now have the men stand apart from the boys, please?!
And no, we aren’t joking. But that’s what the Economic Times says. The ET presented their prestigious list for the “Iconic Personalities of the Decade” and lined up their top three magnates. The three iconic personalities who climbed up the list (for the year 2009) were Nandan Nilekani, Chairman, UIDAI, Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Group, and Dr. Vijay Mallya, Chairman, UB Group.

The three business stalwarts were felicitated for their contribution in the country’s growth through the entire last decade.

Speaking to a news channel, ace ad man Prahlad Kakkar elaborated on the choice of three for the top crown-“Men who arrived in the last decade.”

While Nandan Nilekani bagged the prestigious title for consolidating INFOSYS along with Narayan Krishnamurthy, Ratan Tata got it for TATA’s biggest contribution, Nano, a common man’s car, priced at a curt Rs. 1 lakh. The car was a promise he had made to people of India and successfully fulfilled in just six years.

Speaking on Dr. Vijay Mallya, Prahlad Kakkar started off by quoting: “The man is not just successful but the manner in which he lives his life-on his own terms is commendable. I believe that he is actually one of those few people in this country who’s not a hypocrite!”

Taking the view further other business stalwarts too agreed that Vijay Mallya is all about lavish car collections, stylish parties and high spirits, but being Vijay Mallya isn’t a mean feat. Earning the chairmanship of 60 companies, one can say that the man has truly arrived.

Dr. Ashok Ganguly, Chairman, First Source Solutions, said: “His liquor business is well known but the way he launched and developed Kingfisher Airlines is a great achievement, which clearly shows his great vision and business sense.”

The Indian skies will perhaps never be the same again with Vijay Mallya’s five star Kingfisher Airlines, is something we know for sure. But isn’t that what we call not just ace business sense, but a great “business style” too?!! And with Dr. Vijay Mallya at the helm, “style” acquires a new meaning, in whatever he does!

“Cheers” we say!!
