Vidhu Vinod Chopra, since his FTII days, is known to be indecisive and confused about things, so much so that he may just change the whole plan after confirming it. The latest in the “Mr. Muddlehead” series is Vidhu’s decision to chop off Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti’s trailers from the screening of his film 3 Idiots, starring Aamir Khan.
The whole story goes like this. UTV (distributors of Rajneeti) got a nod from Chopra that their film’s trailer would be shown during the interval of 3 Idiots. But during a private screening of the film Chopra realised that the audiences were talking more about Rajneeti than 3 Idiots when they saw the trailer in question.
This put Chopra off and he called off UTV to pull off the trailer of Rajneeti from all his prints. However, the overseas prints have already been dispatched and there is no way it can be taken off now.
Quips Praksah Jha: “I had told UTV that Vidhu can’t be trusted till the last moment. He has always been like that since our FTII days; not being able to make up his mind, and insecure. That’s Vidhu.”
Well, we don’t entirely blame the poor insecure man. After all, Aamir’s own marketing stunts are well known in the industry and we haven’t really forgotten how he made sure to dwarf Bhansali’s Sawariya, starring Ranbeer Kapoor, to promote his own nephew’s Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, don’t we?
