The unveiling and launch of the coffee table book, called CineBlitz Gold, was one star studded affair on the evening of November 30th 2009. The event took place at the posh suburban hotel, the Taj Lands End, Bandra, Mumbai. Present on the occasion were Dr. Vijay Mallya, Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif, along with Karan Johar and other celebrities, all of who unveiled the book and appreciated it hugely, too. The cover design of the book is a novel attempt in recapturing the bygone charisma of the once star pair Waheeda Rehmaan and the legendry Guru Dutt, in a still from Gurudutt’s classic “Pyaasa”, depicted aptly on the cover by Aamir and Katrina. Answering media volleys, Aamir, Katrina and Dr. Mallya gave quiet a few enthralling moments to the audiences. While Katrina casually answered questions in Hindi and English, making light of her linguistic limitations, Dr. Mallya, too, answered important questions on AIDS, the next day being World Aids Day, on what the strategy of his business group would be in bringing awareness for the cause. But it was Aamir who walked away with the cake! On asked why he’d named his pet dog Shahrukh, Aamir quipped, “Maine Sharukh se nahi, lekin unke bachchon se maafi maangi hai...!” The book will be available in all major bookstores and promises to be a classic chronology of Hindi cinema and its legends, through the eyes and experience of CineBlitz, which turns 35 this year!
