Shahrukh Khan’s recent ordeal at the Newark airport where he was detained for good two hours because his surname featured in the USA’s “wanted” list has finally made him declare to his fans that he doesn’t want to come back to the US again.
Though his next film is My Name Is Khan, it is the surname Khan that landed him in trouble Saturday last at the Newark International airport. SRK had gone there to celebrate the Indian Independence Day with his fans, but after his alleged ordeal at the airport, he was left without even a change of clothes because even his luggage hadn’t arrived by then. SRK then left for the South Asian Carnival at luxury Trump Taj Mahal hotel in Atlantic City in tattered jeans, white T-shirt, brownish coat and a muffler, where he apologised to his fans for the delay and told them what he had to go through at the airport. He told the large number of India-American crowd present there that he didn’t feel like stepping on the American anymore, but will forget all that happened and will come back for his million of fans again and again.
“It was very unprofessional of the airport staff to not allow me to use my cell phone to contact my local organisers,” SRK told the audience, adding that he’s never been treated like this anywhere during his travel throughout the world.
However, even as the matter has now escalated to the governments between both countries, the US authorities still maintain that it was a routine security procedure and he wasn’t detained for two hours, as the actor claims, but only for an hour and a few minutes, to be precise!
