SHORT CUT-THE CON IS ON, PAYING GUEST, DADDY COOL - these were the films you were last seen in. What’s next in the pipeline? The audience is going to see a lot of me in the coming months. I have four beautiful films lined up. DE DANA DHAN already came and rocked! I also have a fabulous role in Sajid Nadiadwala’s HOUSEFULL. I play an Indian-Italian, who is a chronic liar. We had a ball shooting for the film in Italy, London and Macau. Then I have a Mukta Arts film called HELLO DARLING, which is a sex comedy. For the first time on the Indian screen there will be somebody playing Elvis - but from Ulhasnagar! Besides these, I am doing a film by the makers of PHOONK, called KHALBALLI, which will surely be liked by the viewers.
Besides doing films and having your own event company, what else have you been trying your hand at? Films are a part of my life. I truly enjoy doing them, playing different characters. But, at times, one has to experiment. Dino Morea, his brother Nicolo and I have started a resto-bar, in Mumbai. It’s called Elbo Room. We were to call it Obama’s but we didn’t - why take chances with the US! (laughs) It’s a very chilled-out place. The best part about it is that it has indoor cum outdoor seating with a beautiful ambience. It is a very classical concept. We play good music and serve great food. And of course, to top it all, we serve some fabulous alcohol.
Your fans and audiences don’t see you on screen that often. Are you very particular when it comes to choosing the kind of films you do? Or do you believe in quality over quantity? (After a long pause…) Well, let me be honest. When I entered the industry I was very naïve. I ruined a lot of my work because I didn’t select films looking at the script or the director. I instead chose to work with new people. Today, I personally feel that it is wiser to do few films, but work with good established banners. I no longer want to be a part of a baseless or senseless film, which is not scripted well.
Of all the films that you have done so far, which role are you partial to? This is a tough question! There are many roles that I played which I truly liked. But to answer your question, let me be precise. (Smiles) I enjoyed playing the role I did in D. Playing the character of Raghav in the film was very exciting. I did get a lot of appreciation for my performance too. I guess the hard work paid off! Besides that, I feel that the roles I played in TEZAAB and the recently released SANKAT CITY were also fulfilling.
