They say he loves to talk and is doing everything to grab attention. Then why is it that, for the better half of this year, all I’ve been hearing is co-scribes talking about how difficult it is to reach Vivek Oberoi? He is forever busy shooting, or just not talking to the Press. Either the image that is being projected is altogether distorted or somewhere some facts have gone missing…

What are you doing stuck in Hyderabad when you have one of your biggest releases coming up? You are hardly there in the promos and you might once again be letting go off a big opportunity….

(Laughs) KURBAAN is a great film to be a part of! As far as the promotions are concerned the marketing genius of our times, a fabulous producer and a fantastic friend, Mr. Karan Johar has everything planned. They didn’t want to reveal much about my character, so there!

All this is fine, but somehow it’s unfortunate that you didn’t really revel in the success of SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA. Doesn’t this show a certain lack of strategy?
I look at myself more as an actor than a marketing mind. I like to focus on my work and that works for me. For me, acting is an extension of myself. If I do a film which works and is successful, I would be glad to be reciprocated with another film, which is enough for me. Some believe I’m right, some think not. But I completely believe in this: we all shape our own destiny with our hard work, our commitment and our will. But what we get and when we receive it, is always the will of God…so you have to leave it to Him.

Not everything needs to start with breaking coconuts…
Why do you need coconuts? I am here, the hardest nut to crack! (laughs)
