Vivek Oberoi

Amidst publicity errands, new haircuts, girls and constant working out for a new image, Vivek Oberoi took time out to speak to CineBlitz about what his heart really wants...
Vivek stars next in a film with Tips, directed by Kuki Gulati. Controversies came in the second Vivek signed the film, since he allegedly replaced Harman Baweja in it. His grabbing new projects, has thankfully spelt the end of that longish, unruly mane - he now sports what looked like a rather stylised cut! Much needed!! He is trying hard to keep it under 'caps' 'cause nothing grabs more attention than secrecy, and no one knows that better than our actors. Otherwise, Vivek looked pretty chilled...
'I am only going to come back for a day now, that too for the premiere of the film and then I'll be off again to shoot for Kuki. And from South Africa I will be going to New York. There, we are shooting for Karan Johar's film with Saif Ali Khan and Kareena!' Vivek wasn't boasting, but he sure could. After all, he has come a long way from being an outcast to signing top banners. He has lived his nightmare and come out smiling. What more could a hero want out of life?
'To remain a hero,' he smiled.... 'I think that's gonna be my only plea to the industry all my life. Let me act and I will not ask for anything more!' His only plea has definitely been heard. It started with Shootout At Lokhandwala and graduated to Mission Istaanbul. In fact, his characters can almost be called symbolic of his career growth, from the bad guy to being the good guy!
'Yes,' he flashed his characteristic smile, 'but you know what, playing the bad guy is a lot more fun. Really, there is much more charisma around the baddie - at least for an actor. However, I thoroughly enjoyed playing Rizwan Khan, my character in Mission Istaanbul. That man considers himself invincible. He has such a bad attitude that you might get annoyed with him but he is just so enviably good at his job and what's required of him!' I could hear it in Vivek's voice that he truly admired something about Rizwan Khan... but then don't we all like being indestructible? Thankfully everyone's gifted with at least one quality that makes us invincible...
