The International Kite Festival, on Jan 14, in Ahmedabad saw the attendence of the cast and crew of debutant director Geetanjali Sinha's "Ye Khula Aasman". The mega event was host to kite lovers from across the globe. Thousands of colourful kites swarmed the skies with YKA's title song playing in the backdrop, and CDs being distributed to participants and winners. The film is about intergeneratioal bonding between a grandfather (veteran actor Raghuveer Yadav) who pulls his grandson through the thicks of life, drawing life lessons from kite flying. Chief minister Narendra Modi especially liked the tracks of the film and had the title track "Ud phur ke udti jaaye..." playing for the audiences. The director is an almuni of Subhash Ghai's first batch of Whistling Woods and has brought laurels to the institute by her maiden venture. One just wonders though, what keeps Ghai from aggressively being a part of the promos of the film, in the wake of the fact that this happens to be the first film churned out of Whistling Woods. Association with YKA would perhaps give Subhash Ghai more publicity, than the other way round. The film's likely to hit the theatres in Feb, 2010. |
