The DVD launch of "Frozen" took place at Landmark, on Nov 20th. Vishal Bhardwaj was the guest for the evening, along with Shivajee Chandrabhushan who directed and produced the critically acclaimed National Award winning film. The house full of movie buffs enjoyed the interactive session with director, Vishal Bhardwaj and Ms.Bhawana Somaaya. The film depicts the life of a family in a remote Himalayan village, whose dream-like existence is inevitably interrupted, time and again. “Frozen” is the touching journey of Lasya, who lives with her father Karma and younger brother Chomo in a tiny hamlet surrounded by pristine snow-capped mountains and miles of barren land. One day, the army moves in and settles a hundred yards from their doorstep. The last bit of comfort the family draws from their familiar surroundings changes into a harsh ceaseless irreversible conflict. Made in Hindi and Ladakhi, the spectacular film was shot at an average height of 12,000 feet above sea level in Ladakh. Beside veteran actor Danny Denzongpa, the film also stars Shilpa Shukla (of Chak De India fame), Yashpal Sharma, Raj Zutshi, Aamir Bashir and Denzil Smith and introduces Gauri and Angchuk. Renowned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap says ‘Frozen is the most cinematic film to have come out in India in last few years, a pure visual delight. It makes me envious; I wish I had done it.’ Produced and directed by Shivajee Chandrabhushan, the film has toured over 30 international film festivals and has received 18 awards, including the Indira Gandhi National Award 2009 for Best First Film of a Director and Best Cinematography (Shanker Raman).
